Rationale: To support the process of reviewing systems and operations for the purpose of continually improving practice for children’s learning and development
Policy:
- Bright Beginnings is committed to continually reviewing and evaluating systems and operations for best practice.
- Bright Beginnings will systematically review policies and procedures in line with the framework documentation and legislation according to the internal review.
- Bright Beginnings will develop a culture of spontaneous self review and will collaborate with our community of learners to seek new and creative ways to improve professional practice.
Recommended procedure:
- During staff meetings, time and space will be provided for the purpose of self review.
- Staff (and parents/whaanau) will have opportunity to problem solve for the resolution of the issue.
- After reflection on the issue, a team may decide to review an issue to a greater degree. This will be carried out on a pre-decided time frame.
- Bright Beginnings teaching team and support staff will be consulted on-
- Goal setting for the annual plan;
- Policy creation and amendment;
- Professional development planning for the year;
- Any other document management decideds appropriate.
- Spontaneous review may be caused by-
- Goal setting and appraisal meetings;
- Team meetings;
- The raising of issues;
- Parent concern or complaints;
- Parent feedback;
- Children’s feedback;
- An event;
- A question teachers want to answer;
- An observation;
- A new piece of information that challenges what we do now.
- Both long term reviews and sponteaneous reviews will follow the format set out in the self review folder to ensure the needs of all are met. All self review documentation will be filed in the Self Review Folder for reflection and revisitation.
- Teachers are encouraged to add to this folder with ongoing reflections and documentation.
- We will ensure that our current long term self review is displayed within the centre so that parents/whaanau can access and contribute.
