Staff Code Of Conduct

3rd Nov 2016

We, the employees of Bright Beginnings, work together within the Centre community to provide the very best care for our children. We realise that we play a vital and diverse role within the centre, and that it is our responsibility to recognise this through our actions, speech, attitudes and dress. We recognise that The Trust expect all staff to be professional and that in doing so we support our profession and colleagues, while setting a positive and professional example to our children, parents and community. Although working alongside children places a variety of restraints on all staff, we consider the following points essential.

Staff will:

  • Provide examples of exemplary behaviour (refer to policy on Role Models)
  • Be supportive, open and honest with other
  • Be consistent in our interactions with children and parents

  • Participate fully in all professional development
  • Speak positively when discussing other education and/or childcare institutions
  • Show discretion and ensure that confidentiality of privileged and/or sensitive information is held unless it is deemed detrimental to the health or well-being of an employee or child
  • Follow appropriate lines of accountability with respect to each particular area of staff responsibility

In return, staff are entitled to:

  • A rate of pay and conditions of service as set out in the Consenting Parties agreement or the Baptist Action Agreement (whichever applies)
  • Be treated with dignity and respect
  • Be offered equal opportunities with other employees
  • Enjoy a work place free from harassment
