Policy for Casual Staff of Bright Beginnings

Objective: Bright Beginnings will endeavor to provide sufficient information for casual and relieving staff to ensure a smooth transition into the centre’s working environment.

Policy and recommended procedure:

  • The appointment of casual staff for Bright Beginnings Childcare Centre will follow a similar procedure as for permanent staff members–
  • Potential relievers will fill out an Application for Appointment form
  • Applicants will meet with the manager
  • A police and referee check will be conducted
  • Relievers will sign a casual staff contract
  • There will be an induction, where responsibilities, routines, management practices and cultural protocol will be outlined. Relievers will be introduced to the other staff and the center philosophy. An opportunity will be offered for the reliever to spend time in the centre in order to become familiar with routines.
  • A copy of the applicant’s CV will be held on file with necessary qualifications.  A casual/reliever at Bright Beginnings is encouraged to read and understand the charter and center philosophy, which will be the basis of their working ethic
  • A full written copy of all responsibilities and routines of the center will be given to the staff person to read before they commence employment at Bright Beginnings.
