Waiting List Policy

Rationale: To provide an equitable system in which families and whānau are enrolled at Bright Beginnings upon waiting for a child space
Policy:
- Where families want to enrol their child at Bright Beginnings and no suitable child space is available, families will be added to the waiting list.
- The waiting list will document how long families have been waiting, their preferred child spaces and any other details.
- Families will not be granted child spaces on a personal preference basis.
Recommended procedure:
- Parents and whānau will return their enrolment form after their initial inquiry and be informed of the waiting list.
- Bright Beginnings Management will discuss with parents and whānau their preferred hours of attendance for their child
- Parents and families will be encouraged to ring monthly to bi-monthly to check on the waiting list, as this will indicate to Management that the family is still waiting for a child space.
- While Management and administration may project a time frame for a space becoming available for children, Management and administration will ensure the family and whānau are aware this time frame is not guaranteed.
- Enrolment for the next available child space will be dependant on-
- How long the child has been on the waiting list;
- Spaces available/becoming available;
- Spaces the family/ whānau require for their child;
- An urgency/need for a child space;
- Our philosophy and vision for Bright Beginnings, i.e. how this connects with the family/ whānau philosophy and vision for their child.
- When child spaces become available for children, management will contact the family and whānau with an offer of child spaces.
- Families and whānau who accept the child space can negotiate a time with management to go through the enrolment procedure;
- Children will be allocated spaces on the basis of meeting the needs of Bright Beginnings and the family.
