Rationale: Bright Beginnings will maintain a safe environment for both children and staff.
Policy and recommended procedure:
- Once a day the Under Twos and Over Twos areas will be checked to for safety. A safety checklist and poisonous plants register will be completed and signed off by the staff member allocated to this duty. Any equipment needing attention will be cited to the centre manager and written on the office list. Bright Beginnings Property and Maintenance personnel will be contacted and broken equipment will be removed for repair or discarded. Any items discarded or in need of repair will be documented in the maintenance folder
- The Fire Safety Manual will be consulted regularly (monthly or at least once a term) by Property Maintenance Personnel and a checklist signed off
- Fire alarms will be checked regularly by Alarm Services
- An annual building warrant of fitness will be organised by the administrator, and a current warrant will be displayed on the parent notice board
- As new equipment is purchased, the equipment inventory will be added to. All items over $200.00 will be recorded and noted if lost or damaged
- First Aid kits will be checked and upgraded/replenished throughout the year. This will be recorded on the Safety Checklist Form
- The centre Emergency Survival Kit will be kept up to date and in working order. This will be checked annually and noted on Safety Checklist Form.
