Laundry Practices Policy

Rationale: To disclosures the standards of hygeine practice in order to give confidence to parents and officials, and enable any check to be done against a known standard.

Policy and recommended procedure:

  • Bright Beginnings has a washing machine, clothes dryer and outdoor clothes line, and will provide effective laundry powder and sanitiser for hygienic washing and drying of laundry
  • Heavily soiled items will be soaked in sanitiser prior to washing
  • Flannels, bibs, table cloths, cloths and towels will be washed and dried daily, as used, after morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, or as required
  • All linen, blankets, and dress-up clothes will be washed and dried weekly
  • In order to adhere to cultural practices, all laundry used on the body, as well as cleaning items and bedding, will be washed and dried separately.  Separate washing and drying will be as follows:
  • Flannels and bibs and table cloths (meal time)
  • Tea towels and kitchen cloths (kitchen)
  • Sheets, blankets and blanket bags (sleep room)
  • Body towels (water play)
  • Dress-ups, hats, play blanket and dolls clothes (play room)
  • Floor towels and art cloths and other cleaning
